  • False Narratives and Fabricated Images: A Coordinated Fake Hamas Campaign Against Israel

In recent weeks, a surge of disinformation, manipulated narratives, and AI-generated or misused images has been observed targeting the State of Israel. These false claims, which appear to be part of a coordinated campaign by Hamas, aim to malign Israel’s international image while misrepresenting the humanitarian situation in Gaza.

Among the most disturbing tactics has been the exploitation of imagery featuring vulnerable children. In one prominent example, an image of a girl framed as begging in Gaza during 2025 was widely circulated — yet investigations have revealed the photo dates back to 2014, depicting a Yazidi child. Similar tactics have included reusing images of children suffering from unrelated medical conditions, such as cerebral palsy and cystic fibrosis, falsely associating them with reports of starvation in Gaza.

“These actions represent blatant violations of journalistic ethics,” stated a spokesperson from the Israeli Embassy. “Such disinformation not only distorts the truth but also plays into the hands of terror organizations that thrive on public chaos, confusion, and emotional manipulation.”

Despite efforts to undermine its humanitarian record, Israel continues to facilitate large-scale aid into Gaza. Hundreds of aid trucks carrying food, water, medical supplies, and other essentials are allowed entry into designated areas daily — to be distributed by the United Nations and affiliated humanitarian agencies. However, Israeli authorities have expressed concern that the UN has failed to efficiently collect and distribute this aid on the ground.

The Israeli government also reiterated that Hamas bears significant responsibility for civilian suffering in Gaza. As a designated terror organization, Hamas continues to embed its operatives in densely populated civilian areas, using non-combatants as human shields and converting schools, hospitals, and religious sites into military installations.

The Embassy of Israel has also raised concerns about the impact of this misinformation in Nepal. "We have observed certain media platforms in Nepal being misled by these false narratives," the Embassy said. "We urge all media professionals to thoroughly verify sources and imagery before publishing reports, particularly on such sensitive issues."

Israel concluded by reaffirming its commitment to peace, dialogue, and regional stability. "We continue to support genuine efforts toward a peaceful future for all peoples in the region — based on facts, mutual respect, and truth," the statement added.
