Kathmandu : For the convenience of general consumers, Ncell is now working to issue new mobile numbers starting with the 971 number range, in line with the permission granted by the Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA). The company has stated that it is preparing to start distributing the new SIMs by July 31.
On May 28, 2025, NTA permitted Ncell to use this new number range. The new number range has been allocated to Ncell as the previously issued ranges-980, 981, 982, and 970-have become insufficient to meet demand for mobile numbers.
This new mobile range has been allocated in line with the rules under the NTA’s National Numbering Allocation Plan. Beyond telecom services, mobile numbers are increasingly essential for various purposes such as receiving One-Time Passwords (OTPs), signing up and verification for mobile apps and web-based services, and conducting digital transactions.
Ncell has requested all service providers, government agencies, non-government organizations, private sector companies, banks, and financial institutions to integrate/update their systems to accommodate this new number range, similar to the existing ones, for seamless customer service.
